Redds Apple Ale Onion Topping Bratwurst, Hot Dog or Hamburger

I love hot Italian sausages (no pun intended) and I'm always looking for something to make it just a little bit better. I am a big fan of combining ingredients for sweet and spicy flavor, giving it that right amount of tang. A couple summers ago we were at a relatives house they made some hamburgers with a similar onion mixture. It was so good and left my mouth watering.  They had told me every time they make it it always tastes a little different. I had to figure out how to make something like this since it is was such a yummy topping for hot dogs, Italian sausage, bratwurst, hamburgers etc.  I have tried to make it a few different ways.  This last time when I made this onion mixture with butter, jalapeños, onions, garlic and red delicious cider it was so yummy.

Redds Apple Ale Onion Topping

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons of butter
1/2 an onion thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves thinly sliced
3 jalapenos sliced
1/4 cup of Redds Apple Ale

Directions:

Put 2 tablespoons of the butter into your pan then add your onion garlic and jalapenos. Sauté until onions are almost translucent then add in your 1/4 cup of Redds Apple Ale. When you pour the red delicious apple cider in, it will foam up turn your heat to medium heat and let it sit occasionally stirring until all of the liquid is cooked off. After the liquid is cooked off stir and add to your sausage, hot dog, bratwurst or hamburger.

I was also thinking about trying this with fajitas.

Hope you enjoy this recipe! I'd love to hear the ways that you dress up a hamburger bratwurst,  hot Italian sausage or hot dogs.

  4. I'd love this, but I can't. Does that make any sense at all? The only thing I cannot and will not eat is anything with onions in it :(

    1. It does make sense. You could always switch the onions out for sweet bell peppers if you like bell peppers.
